The day started with looking for a reasonable breakfast, because the motel's breakfast area was hopelessly crowded - way too many French and Russian people. In the end Denny´s had to save us, and so we could start today's long trip.
The Grand Canyon was planned for today, this time the North Rim - we had heard a lot of it already, but never had the chance to visit it so far.
The road led us through a large variety of sceneries. First there was deep red sandstone, which was rising many feet high along the street, then it went down into the valley and a broad plain expanded in front of us. Then again mountains, this time very colorful. Finally we hit the entrance road into the Grand Canyon. Who didn't see this by himself can't really believe it, all of a sudden the landscape had changed totally again. Now we passed lush green meadows, fringed by wonderful woods - one could mean we are in the Thuringian Forest instead driving along an American highway.
And then it was there, world's biggest canyon, with an unbelievable play of colors - red, yellow, green, white, brown, grey. It was simply amazing!
We made several stops within the park with some short hikes and enjoyed the beautiful vistas.
Of course we again got some small souvenirs - that belongs to such a trip.
Stress-free we drove back to Page, where finding something for dinner was again a little harder. The Pizza Hut had only self-service, and it look anything but inviting. The next pizzeria looked good, but the food had cost a small fortune. Fortunately on the other side of the street was a Chinese restaurant, the Mandarin Gourmet, there we could really overindulge...
Well saturated we went back to the motel, where we kept the janitor busy before the evening could end.
